United Parcel Service is Going More Green

United Parcel Service (UPS) is changing their trucks from brown to green. No not literally, but for the environment, yes. Their trucks are now equipped with EPA-patented hydraulic hybrid technology that increases fuel efficiency by 60-70% in urban driving while lowering greenhouse gas emissions by 40%. They are the most cost-effective trucks around and bring about change for the earth.
With UPS running the largest delivery fleets around this truck efficiency has brought about great change with the company and the benefit of the environment in mind.
The company will be adding about 50 of these third generation hybrid vehicles to the fleet in the next few years and continue to be the voice for delivery companies as far as a better earth-friendly voice. They are expected to deliver a 35% improvement in fuel economy with these trucks as well. This will not only save the company money in the long run, it will also save the earth’s resources too. In 2006 4,100 low-emissions vehicles hit the roads, this being on top of the 8,000 such vehicles already in its fleet since the change came about. In total, alternative fueled vehicles constitute about 14% of its fleet.
So for your holiday shipping needs, consider using UPS. You will be giving back to the environment in more ways than one.
*Natural and Sustainable Living Tip: When going to ship those holiday packages, consider environmentally-friendly packing such as shredded paper, newspaper, old maps or wrapping paper from the previous year or even clothing or material. Anything laying around you home can be used for packing. If you look through your recyclables, you can use your imagination and come up with a way to package something of value to your loved ones.
