Sorting out the Environmental Truths
Since the topic of global warming has taken the front seat to many other issues with the earth, what’s the bottom line. Here are a few answers to a few of those green questions and how it can and will affect you in the long run as the earth ages.
1. E-Shopping compared to “in-person” shopping, which is better? Shopping in person is ten times better than shopping online. For one, the stores can order the items in bulk and for two this cuts down on carbon emissions as well as fuel. For products not in the stores that are local to you, it is better to shop online rather than drive the distance to another store that would have the items you are seeking.
2. Biodegradable plastic bags compared to reusable bags for groceries, which is better?: You may be leaning more to the reusable bags made of canvas or cotton, but the truth is, the biodegradable bags are better for the environment overall. With the process of making the bags, there are just that few amounts of people out there that will not switch from plastic. Of course the reusable bags would be better if EVERY SINGLE person used them, but that will NEVER happen. You have your die-hards that prefer plastic over reusable and for that, the biodegradable plastic ones are the best choice.
3. Solar Power Energy compared to Oil Energy, which is better?: With the way things are currently oil energy is the best choice we have at the present moment. As the future progresses and solar panels become a household name in building homes, of course solar panels would be the best bet. Currently, 80% of the car manufacturing wants to change their car sales for the future, but it is hard with demand still being with oils. As far as which is better, of course solar is better, but oil is still a dependency. If you can splurge, by all means, invest in solar power over oil.
*Natural and Sustainable Living Tip: Everything can be recycled and recycling saves more energy than produce a virgin mold of the product. Aluminum being recycled produces 95 percent less energy than making it from fresh, as with glass uses 31 percent less, steel, 45 percent less, plastic 60 percent less. So recycle whenever you can and whatever you can.
