Railways Take a Greener Approach
Green trains are in the works for a few railway companies, one mainly being in Oregon. Rail power Technologies of Quebec, the RPRX 5400 switcher provided Portland and Western Railroad crews with a more environmentally improved locomotive. The outside of the trains state the new change as well. They are green with the logo of “Ultra Clean Power” on the sides of the new locomotive.
These new engines are part of a series of trains that are fueled by diesel. They are quicker and have a nice riding capability as well. It’s all in part of reducing their carbon footprint with in the rail systems. They are more fuel efficient and leave less of a carbon footprint when in operation.
It will be a welcome change within all railroad companies and rail yard as long as it will have high horsepower, fuel efficient and give off low emissions all at the same time. With this change to be more earth-friendly and starting with this rail company, hopefully many other rail yards and rail companies will follow suit and make the change for the better within their own rail system as well.
