Go Green with your Eyewear

The best part about going green is all the cool furniture and other items you can find that bring in a new decor to your house, but have you ever thought about going green with your eyewear?
It’s true that the best way to go green is to purchase or find something that it vintage and your eyewear is no different. I recently purchase a brand new pair of eye glasses that have the Coach label on the ear piece and I tried to go “old fashioned” when purchasing my new frames, but I could have not only saved $100 with finding a vintage pair, I could have also gotten a neater looking frame in the process, as well as saved the earth an added pair of eye frames.
Eyewear from the 1950s and even through into the 1960s are similar in styles to the frames that are sold currently. They had rhinestone, cat-eye shaped and even the most unique colors that were bright and flirty. You can find almost any style at antique stores or tag sales and you may even be able to find some at a local garage sale. They can be custom fitted with just about any lenses you are seeking, be it reading glasses or your regular everyday spectacles.
The best way to shop for the frames is to check out a local antique store and if they don’t carry any in your style then discount and thrift stores are sure to have the style you are looking for. Before going all the way into frames take them to your eye care specialist and get them fitted to your face frame.
Going vintage is one of the best ways to go green. Your eyewear will have a story to tell as well and some may even be worth more than you end up paying for them.
*Natural and Sustainable Living Tip: Having a garden is one of the best ways to go green as well. Depending on where you live, you can grow just about anything in the vegetable and fruit line. All you need is a bit of ground and soil and some seeds and you can help mother earth in a big way and your own wallet.
