Achieve The Wine Country Decorating Charm In Your Own Home
The love, care, and beauty in an old home or barn is the care in which the structure was built. From old oak cabinets to pinewood flooring savaged from an 1800s school house. There are many things in an old building people take for granted that could look just as great in your own home. Taking the time and the care to salvage anything from an old wooding birdhouse to a piece a large granite to use as a cutting board is a great way to start thinking green.

I recently read an article in Spaces Weekly, that stated that everyone must start thinking more green and stop living in the moment. If we all thought more long term we wouldn’t be throwing away so much. So here are some ideas from that article on way to achieve the organic decorating ideas from some of the most green wine country flooring
1. Pick the right wood. Old growth easter white pine in 13- to 20-inch randon widths is a perfect example of trule authentic, old-looking floors. Walnut and oak in dark stains create a European feel.
2. Mimic the history. Marks from handtolls are a well-worn look can be replicated including uneven surfaces, hand-scraped edges and saw blade marks in the surface of the plank.
3. Color and finish. Custon-blended stains help match the natural patina of an older floor. Finally, finished protect unwanted spills ans stains.
*Natural and Sustainable Living Tip: Always shut your computer down, epsecially when you leave work everyday and when you are going to bed at night. Never waste electricity purposely.

I love the thought of doing this … because we did! Used an old “pack house” from our farm to form the center of our barn. We moved the pack house 9 miles to new site. What fun! That was over 12 years ago … LOL, always have been ahead of our time. “Old” has so much more character than most of the “new” today. %)
